The One Left Behind By Willo Davis Roberts

The One Left Behind

The book is about a twelve year old girl named Mandy who lives in a small town. Her twin sister died from eating a hamburger with E Coli a year earlier.  She thinks she will never be happy and will never be able to get through life without her twin sister. Her parents go on vacation for their honeymoon and one of their brothers goes to a friend's while the other goes camping. They each think Mandy is with the other. The girl is left in the house with just her dog for the weekend. She wakes up one day and finds some food from the kitchen missing. And a car that has gone off the road and crashed. When she is looking in the car she finds a boy not much older then herself hiding in the back seat with a small boy about two years old. The boy says that his parents went on a business trip.  He added that the baby sitter and her brothers were trying to kidnap them. The boy took his brother and ran away but crashed the car. The girl tries to help them but instead gets kidnapped herself. You will have to read the book to find out the end.

This was a very different book from what I normally read because it was suspenseful and was not a romance or comedy. The ending did not impress me all that much. It was an easy read. There were some parts that were very interesting and some that I just found boring.

Overall I think that this was a fine book but there was nothing too special about it. I would recommend it but I would not rave about it just because I was not so interested that I could not put it down. I would give it about a 2.5 out of 10.
