Sherlock Holmes is a crime consultant, he helps detectives in London whenever they require help on a case for a fee. Sherlock lives alone until he meets Watson, previously a military doctor in the English army, he was shot in a battle and now returning to England he can't afford a house so he decides to move in with Sherlock. They move into a house on Baker Street where Watson learns about Sherlock's strange arts of deduction, he doubts them until they get brought up into their first big case, The Study in Scarlet. After that Watson doesn't doubt Sherlocks abilities and goes on to publish all of their cases. So begins Sherlock and Watson's amazing adventures in the mysteries of crime and the art of deduction.
I really enjoyed the characters in this book as they are developed quite well in a very short amount of time. The book does this by having Sherlock sum them up through his arts of deduction, the book also does a great job of depicting Sherlock and Watson as Sherlock is described very well through Watson's perspective and you really get to know Sherlock. Watson is also well described even though the book is told through his perspective, he is described through the way he responds and through Sherlock deducts him. Also all the characters are just incredibly well written and make you feel that you could meet these people in real life.
My one question from this book is why some of the mysteries were very short, one of the mysteries is only 30 pages long which i felt was way to short as it didn't even have a good ending.
This book is very good in my opinion as it kept me interested the entire way through so I would suggest this book to everyone as I feel it has a very wide appeal. The best things about this book is the character development, the setting, and the main character those things in my opinion make the book one of my favourite books. If your thinking of reading this book, you should as it is one of the best crime books in history.
